December Employees of the Month

Congratulations to our seven employees of the month. Your hard work and dedication makes you true ambassadors of “The Spinato’s Experience”.

Connor Exline

Tempe Location

Starting off as one of our fantastic hosts, Connor quickly moved over to help out with deliveries. He has been a key member of our driving team on the weekends. When he is not here delivering the world’s greatest pizza, he is student teaching at a local high school, and is also a recent ASU grad! We are very proud to call him a part of our Tempe family.

Thank you Connor!

Nick Hoagland

North Phoenix Location

Nick always goes the extra mile, giving great service to our guests and helping out other team members whenever needed.  Don’t let the big muscles fool you – he’s a teddy bear! We really appreciate all the hard work and just wanted the world know how great you are.

Congrats, Nick!

Jennifer Testdorf

Central Phoenix Location (Front of the House)

Jen can be seen here almost every day of the week, walking around with a big smile on her face! She has been part of our family for about 6 months now (as a server) and is starting to branch out into cashiering and hosting as well. She is one of the most positive, joyful people you will ever meet so if you’re having a bad day just come on in, and Jen will turn that frown upside down! We are so grateful to have her in our family and we see big things for her here in the future.

Thanks for the good times, Jen!

Tyler Scott

Central Phoenix Location (Heart of the House)

Tyler started out in the dish room, and we quickly saw that with his speed and attention to detail that he has endless skills to offer! Tyler has so much passion and cares about every single item he serves – he knows the true meaning of Commitment to Excellence! When Tyler is not at work he enjoys hanging with his friends and getting ready to begin college. Tyler hopes to become an elementary school teacher or an architect – instead of building sandwiches, he may build your next home or office building!

Thank you Tyler for all your hard work!

Moe Matuniak

Scottsdale Location

Moe is one of our most reliable family members here at Spinato’s Scottsdale. She’s never afraid to put in long hours and always has a smile the whole time! We don’t know what we would do without her here.

Thanks for all you do, Moe!

Alberto Rubio

Ahwatukee Location (Front of the House)

You might recognize his name and face, because this is the second time this year that Bert has received this award! Bert has such a positive attitude and exhibits teamwork at its finest. With these attributes, along with his exceptional guest service, Bert encompasses the Spinato’s Experience to its fullest. Request him as your server next time you are in to see why we are so proud of him.

Congrats on a job well done, Bert!

Omar Alvarez

Ahwatukee Location (Heart of the House)

Omar has been part of our family for a little over four months and is exceeding our expectations in anything he does. He is responsible for prepping many of our items for the heart of house, and most importantly supplying dough to the pizza line. Next time you take a bite out of one of our delicious pizzas, you’ll know the awesome employee that made it all possible!

Thanks Omar, you’re awesome!

November Employees of the Month

Congratulations to our seven employees of the month. Your hard work and dedication makes you true ambassadors of “The Spinato’s Experience”.

Christian Garcia

Tempe Location

Christian has been with us for almost a year, and he has grown into a budding superstar for our store! He has a fantastic attitude and infectious smile. Christian has a big heart and truly cares about this company and his fellow family members. When he is not here making the world’s greatest pizzas, he can be found rooting for his Steelers (we try not to hold that against him).

Thank you, Christian, you’re amazing!

Bryan Ward

North Phoenix Location

Up here in North Phoenix, we have a lot of bearded wonders, and it just so happens this specific one is our employee of the month! He goes by Bryan, first of his name, hailing from Winterfell.  Bryan makes some of the best pizzas in the Seven Kingdoms.  Yes, winter is coming, but if you’re brave enough to fight off the direwolves and Wildlings, cross the Narrow Sea to join us for one of Bryan’s amazing pizzas.

Valar Morghulis, Bryan.

Jacob Mongold

Central Phoenix Location (Front of the House)

Jacob has been with us about 6 months now and loves it so much, he is here almost every day! He might be the first face you see when you walk in the door as he greets and walks you to your table, or he could be the happy face running around bussing and cleaning for us on busy nights. Jacob is so much fun to have around and we’re so blessed to have him here at Spinato’s!

Thanks for all you do Jacob!

Jason Groves

Central Phoenix Location (Heart of the House)

Although Jason has only been with us for a short time, he has made a lasting impression on our pizza line.  Jason enjoys spending time in the outdoors, and he can often be found hiking the hills of Phoenix in the wee hours of the morning, clearing his mind and preparing for the shift later that day. Maybe that’s why he’s always so positive from the start of his shift through to the end, and is willing to lend a hand whenever and however needed.  Jason’s pizzas are always a hit with our guests, having received rave reviews for the consistency and quality time and time again.  We invite you all to come in and try one of Jason’s hand crafted pizzas.

Great job, Jason!

Brandon Dongell

Scottsdale Location

Though he has only been with us for a short time, Brandon has made a huge impact at our store. Whether prepping the kitchen for dinner or artfully making delicious pizzas, Brandon’s attention to detail is always on point. Please join us in thanking Brandon for his positive contribution to our Spinato’s Scottsdale family.

You’re awesome, Brandon!

Anna Solfisburg

Ahwatukee Location (Front of the House)

Anna has been with Spinato’s for a little over three years. Straight outta Chicago, Anna sure knows good food and does a tremendous job for us behind the bar. She has become a well-known face for our guests, and her commitment to excellence and devotion to give our guests the Spinato’s Experience is top notch.

Thank you for your hard work, Anna!

Kristie Searle

Ahwatukee Location (Heart of the House)

Kristie has been with us for just over 3 months and well exceeded our expectations! Kristie wears many hats in our restaurant – she is responsible for making a lot of our larger prep items, as well as making beautiful salads for our guests to enjoy. You can also find her in the front of the house as a cashier. Is there anything she can’t do?

Congrats Kristie, we’re so glad you’re here!

STAR stands for: Situation.Task.Action.Result!

The Spinato’s RockSTAR Award, implemented in March 2015, is an honor given to one restaurant manager each month that shows exemplary decision-making and leadership skills.

We select a manager who we believe has shown that he/she is able to confront a Situation or Task, take Action to handle the circumstances, and anticipate the impact (Result) of those actions taken. Our RockSTARs not only do what is expected of them, but go above and beyond when making decisions that affect not only themselves and the restaurant, but their employees and our valued guests.

October’s RockSTAR award goes to Steven Williams, assistant kitchen manager at our Tempe location.  Affectionately nicknamed Stee, he was a great choice for our RockSTAR because of his eagerness to learn and willing attitude – he will pitch in anywhere needed!  Exhibit A: when our Spinato’s Fine Foods retail division received an unusually large order, Steven was one of the first to jump in, don the gluten-free lab coat, and crank out hours upon hours of extra work to help fill the order.

Steven originally started at the Ahwatukee location making desserts, and moved over to Tempe when the need arose for an AKM.  He is a great example of what we aspire to be – positive and with a caring nature, he always shows concern for others.  Steven has a big personality that you can’t miss – he’s constantly cracking jokes and you can hear his silly laugh from a mile away!  We are so glad to have him around to make us smile.  Thanks for being you, Stee, and keep on keepin’ on with your RockSTAR attitude!

Lexi Pollock

Tempe Location

Lexi has been with us for less than a year but is a rising star for the Tempe store. Lexi is learning all positions in the Front of House, so she’ll be able to do it all! Lexi has an infectious laugh and smile – it’s hard to be in a bad mood when she is around. Lexi thrives when things are busy. When she is not making us smile at here at work, Lexi is on a rowing team and loves to be outdoors, riding bikes or going on a hiking adventure. She hopes one day to be able to save the rhinos of South Africa! Big dreams from this superstar family member!

Thank you, Lexi, you rock!

Kayci Riggs

North Phoenix Location

Kayci is one of our best hostesses that always shows up to work with a smile.  She is a fantastic team player, always willing to help out anyone where ever necessary!  You’ll probably see her up front working the counter or greeting guests, so when you come in, help us out congratulating her with a job well done!

Thanks for the awesome work, Kayci!

Mike Meyer

Central Phoenix Location (Front of the House)

Mike has worked his way through the company since he started in 2012 – first at our Tempe location, then to Ahwatukee, and now to our family here at the Central Phoenix location. From his humble beginnings as a delivery driver back in 2012, he has grown into one of our best servers! He can spend hours talking to anyone about everything from football to fine wines to wrestling to his 22-year-old cat that he loves so much. He keeps his co-workers laughing and his managers pulling out their hair on a regular basis, but he is always a pleasure to have at work every day. Thank you for all your hard work!

We love you, Mike!

Magdalena “Male” Mejia

Central Phoenix Location (Heart of the House)

Male has been with the company for just over 9 years, during which she has worked at our Bell Rd. store, Awhatukee, and finally finding her home here at Central Phoenix. Male truly knows the meaning of family – she is a mother of 6 the youngest just turning 1 last month! She is a dedicated mother and employee – she makes the best pizzas that come out of the kitchen! We’re not sure how she does it, but there is magic in her hands. Male’s pizzas just cannot be recreated! Come on down and have your favorite pizza made by Male; you will fall in love all over again!

Thanks for all you do, Male!

Ashley Longanecker

Scottsdale Location

Ashley joined our team as a part-timer and quickly moved up to a full-time position. She is one of our hard working Heart of the House team members that everyone loves to be around. There is never a dull moment when you’re working with Ashley; she keeps everyone entertained with her southern charm. She may be one of our youngest employees, but Ashley goes above and beyond like an old pro!

Great job, Ashley!

Michael Watson

Ahwatukee Location (Front of the House)

Mike has been with Spinato’s for just about two years, and is working his way up the ranks! Mike started as a cashier, then became a wonderful server, and now has been promoted to a front of the house lead! Mike is great with our guests and knows just how to deliver the Spinato’s Experience. We are so excited to have him as a leader!

Congrats on your continued success, Mike!

Isaac Heath

Ahwatukee Location (Heart of the House)

Issac has been with us for about three months and has far exceeded our expectations. Issac is responsible for constructing those beautiful and delicious pizzas that our guests receive. He is a team player and has a great attitude every day that he works. We commend him for his dedication to upholding the Spinato’s Experience while he is also working hard in high school!

Thanks for your dedication, Isaac!

September RockSTAR Award

STAR stands for: Situation.Task.Action.Result!

The Spinato’s RockSTAR Award, implemented in March 2015, is an honor given to one restaurant manager each month that shows exemplary decision-making and leadership skills.

We select a manager who we believe has shown that he/she is able to confront a Situation or Task, take Action to handle the circumstances, and anticipate the impact (Result) of those actions taken. Our RockSTARs not only do what is expected of them, but go above and beyond when making decisions that affect not only themselves and the restaurant, but their employees and our valued guests.

This month’s RockSTAR was done a little bit differently – usually, the award goes to a manager at one of our stores.  This month, however, we gave the award to our HOH Operations Manager, Terry Wiberg.  Why, you ask?  Because Terry was awesome enough to step out of his usual role and take over at our Scottsdale location as acting GM for almost two months!

A little bit about Terry – he started with us when he was 16, as a dishwasher.  Now, we won’t tell you how old he is, but that was 14 years ago (you do the math).  We are so lucky that he has stuck around with us for so long, because Terry has worked just about every management position available – from kitchen manager to general manager, and all the way up into our Family Headquarters, where he now works in HOH operations.  Terry wears many hats and has just as many nicknames (lookin’ at you, Perry).  He adds the perfect amount of silly awkwardness to our team – and for someone without kids, his Dad Jokes are unparalleled!

Luckily for us, when a management spot opened up at Scottsdale, Terry was willing to jump in and tackle it, and he worked there diligently and without complaint until our new GM was all trained up and ready to go!  Thanks for all that you do, Terry.  You help us achieve our Commitment to Excellence every day, and we are so glad to have you as a part of our family!

Brad Roche

Tempe Location

Brad is a seasoned server at our store. He started off working in the kitchen many years ago, but he made his way to the front of the house and has been a key player ever since. His sense of humor comes out every day and is always making his fellow team members laugh. When Brad is not crushing it here at Spinato’s, you can find him dancing at an EDM show or cheering on his AZ sports teams.

Thank you Brad, you are amazing!

Will Hooper

North Phoenix Location

Will is a kitchen extraordinaire!  He can do anything and everything in the kitchen and usually does – as you can tell by his photo, Will isn’t afraid to get down and dirty in the kitchen!   He helps lead us through each shift, making sure that every pizza that comes out of our kitchen is perfect for our guests’ enjoyment.  Thanks for your constant hard work!

We couldn’t do it without you, Will!

Bobby Boykin

Central Phoenix Location (Front of the House)

Bobby has been with us for only five short months, but we can’t imagine our bar without him!  He will make all of your specialty drinks with 2oz of dedication, 1oz of talent and a splash of passion!  We are very happy to have him as a part of our family.  Bobby recently won the summer Featured Pizza award because his pizza creations are as delicious as his bar drinks!

Great work, Bobby, keep it up!

Connor Klein

Central Phoenix Location (Heart of the House)

Connor has been with us since the opening here at Central Phoenix.  He works in our sauté station, creating pasta perfection! He is very dedicated and we are happy to have him as a part of our family.  He has been cross-trained on the pizza line and will know the whole kitchen soon.  The next time you enjoy your pasta, know that it was made with love!

Congrats, Connor!

Paul Peacock

Scottsdale Location

Paul is an all-around team player! He is always willing to cover any shift. Not only is he a fantastic delivery driver, but he is also a full-time firefighter. He can save your life and bring you pizza with a smile – just like a modern day Superman!

Thanks for all you do, Paul!

Maria Mihaylov

Ahwatukee Location (Front of the House)

Maria has been part of our front of the house team since June and is doing an outstanding job! Maria is responsible for delivering our amazing food to your table – but that’s not all she does. She also helps us provide exceptional guest service as well as supplying us with much-welcomed smiles and laughter (ask her about the story of her curling iron – you’ll see what we mean!).

Congrats on a job well done, Maria!

Edgar Ayala Rivera

Ahwatukee Location (Heart of the House)

Edgar has been with us for just over a month and let it be known: he has done nothing but amaze us! Edgar provides our team with the sparkling clean dishes that are necessary to serve our guests their amazing food. If it weren’t for Edgar taking so much pride and productivity in the work he does, we would not be able to offer our Spinato’s Experience. Thank you for your efforts and we look forward to a great journey ahead!

Congratulations, Edgar!

This month’s RockSTAR might look familiar….and it’s because she’s such a RockSTAR, we had to pick her twice!  Our kitchen manager at Central Phoenix, Casey Tyler, has once again blown us away with her high levels of awesomeness.  We’ve had a lot going on, with a new menu rollout, new bar menu, leadership trainings – you name it, we’ve been busy with it!  And Casey has been there every step of the way.

Casey has not hesitated to lend a helping hand (or eight), even on top of her already heavy workload.  She’s even volunteering her time on our charity golf tournament committee!  Casey is the epitome of what we call “servant leadership” – she will do anything to help without any thought of herself.  We know it’s part of the reason she keeps the kitchen running smoothly and is a great manager to look up to.

Casey, we really can’t thank you enough for all you do.  Keep on rockin’ it out, girl!
