Thanksgiving Meals for People who Hate Turkey

The time continues to fly by as Thanksgiving is turning the corner of next week. Preparations are in motion and the holiday cheer is starting to ring! It’s time to finalize those shopping lists and gear up to hit the stores, because everybody is coming over and they are coming hungry. This week we are going to highlight some key menu items that you MUST have in your Thanksgiving spread for people who hate turkey - or at least the vegetarians, vegans, or other dietary restrictions at your table.

The Classics

Mashed Potatoes - sans the gravy

  • Instead of a meaty gravy, sub out for a creamy garlic butter or add your favorite vegan gravy to your table - just keep them separate from the potatoes to protect your friends!

Sweet Potatoes/Yams

  • Avoid using flour or sub for rice flour to keep these bad boys gluten-free for your celiac guests

Acorn Squash

  • These are fabulous to not only look at, but delicious and super fall vegetables! Great for our vegetarian friends (vegans too if we keep butter and other animal products away from it) and extra tasty with some brown sugar on top

Pumpkin Pie

  • Who says dessert can’t be before dinner?

The Show Stoppers - How to incorporate Spinato’s to your spread

Broccoli Crust Pizzas!

  • Throw a Margherita or Mediterranean Supreme on the table to wow your guests! But be warned - they will probably ask you to host again next year!

Spinato’s Sauces

  • Vodka Cream, Marinara, and Tomato Basil (which are 2 for $10 at all locations right now!) are the perfect toppings for pastas, bases for pizzas and sandwiches, or dipping sauces. Homemade taste that’s perfect for Thanksgiving.

I hope that one of these menu items inspired your spread to be inclusive of those with dietary restrictions so that the whole table to eat and connect together on this special holiday. Please tag us and send us any photos of how you enjoy our pizzas and sauces. As always, thanks so much for joining us at The Spinato’s Family Table. Alla Salute!
